Q: Is Mumbai Home Guard a permanent Govt job?
No. Home Guard is a part-time auxiliary force where members are paid a daily duty allowance (₹670/day in 2026) only when called for duty. After 5 years of consistent service, members can apply for lateral entry to Maharashtra Police / MSF as permanent constables.
Q: How much can I earn monthly as a Mumbai Home Guard?
Earnings depend on duty days. Average part-time engagement (15 duties/month) gives ₹10,050/month. During peak periods (festivals, elections, monsoon emergencies), full-time engagement of 25–30 duties can yield ₹16,750 – ₹20,100/month.
Q: Can female candidates apply for Home Guard?
Yes. Mumbai Home Guard actively recruits female members for women-specific duties — anti-eve teasing patrols, women police stations support, and event security at temples / malls / hospitals. Separate height (155 cm) and PET (1 km in 7 min) standards apply.
Q: Is there an application fee?
No. Mumbai Home Guard recruitment is completely free of cost. Beware of any agent demanding money for “selection guarantee” — this is a scam. Always apply at the official local Police Station or Worli HQ only.
Q: What kind of duties does a Home Guard perform?
Duties include traffic management, festival/event security (Ganpati, Eid, Christmas), crowd control, anti-illegal-construction drives, mock drills, disaster response (monsoon flood relief), and assistance to Mumbai Police at police stations and check posts.
Apply directly through the Mumbai Home Guard / Maharashtra Police channels listed below. The recruitment is completely free — no agents required.
