Indian Railways has officially released the Group D Recruitment 2026 notification (CEN 01/2026) under the Railway Recruitment Cells (RRCs) of all 16 zonal railways. This is one of the largest recruitment drives in the country with vacancies for Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Pointsman, Helper / Assistant (multiple departments), and Porter / Khalasi across India.
Both freshers and ITI holders can apply. The selection is based on a Computer-Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification, and Medical Examination. Salary follows the 7th CPC Level-1 pay matrix with full pension, PF, and medical benefits.

Step 1: Read the Official Notification
Download CEN 01/2026 PDF from rrbapply.gov.in. Carefully read post-wise eligibility, vacancies (zone-wise), and PET standards.
Step 2: One-Time Registration (OTR)
Create an OTR account on rrbapply.gov.in using your Aadhaar / mobile / email. The OTR is valid for all RRB exams.
Step 3: Fill the Application Form
Choose your preferred zonal RRB(s), select up to 8 post preferences, upload photo / signature / 10th certificate / category certificate.
Step 4: Pay Application Fee Online
Pay ₹500 (UR/OBC) or ₹250 (SC/ST/Female/PwD) via UPI / Net Banking / Debit Card.
Step 5: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
CBT covers General Science, Mathematics, General Intelligence, and General Awareness — 100 questions in 90 minutes. Negative marking: 1/3.
Step 6: PET → Document Verification → Medical
CBT-qualified candidates appear for Physical Efficiency Test, then DV with originals, and finally medical examination at the railway hospital.
Q: What is the Railway Group D salary in-hand?
In-hand salary for Track Maintainer / Helper is approx. ₹26,000 – ₹32,000 per month after deductions, depending on city class (X / Y / Z) and HRA.
Q: Is ITI mandatory for Group D?
No. 10th pass candidates are eligible for most Group D posts. ITI is mandatory only for technical posts like Helper-Electrical / Helper-Workshop / Assistant Loco Pilot Helper roles.
Q: How many attempts are allowed for RRB Group D?
There is no fixed attempt limit. You can apply as long as you are within the upper age limit (33 years for UR; relaxation up to 38–43 for reserved categories).
Q: Is there negative marking in the CBT?
Yes. There is a 1/3 negative mark for every wrong answer. Unattempted questions carry no penalty.
Q: What is the PET (Physical Efficiency Test) standard?
Male candidates must lift & carry a 35 kg load for 100m in 2 minutes (single attempt) and run 1000m in 4 min 15 sec. Female: 20 kg / 100m in 2 min, 1000m in 5 min 40 sec.
